Cartoon Companies

A motion picture is made up of many photographs per second of an action. When played together at high speed, it appears to the eye that the images on the screen are actually moving. What cartoon companies do is that they replace the photographs with illustrations. Each illustration shows a slight change in position from the previous image, creating a sense of motion when played in quick succession. This is how 2D animation or cartoons are made.

Cartoon companies like Walt Disney and Warner Brothers have been bringing us cartoons since decades. Most of these have produced characters that are still loved, like Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Goofy, and Pluto by Walt Disney and many characters from Looney Tunes by Warner Brothers. While most of the Looney Tunes cartoons were not meant for children, nearly everyone remembers them fondly from their childhood. Whether it was Bugs Bunny or Tweety Bird being chased by Elmer Fudd and Sylvester respectively, or the Road Runner (Beep Beep!) foiling the Coyote’s various dastardly plans with plenty of help from products by Acme!

Today, cartoon companies are called animation companies, and what we fondly remember as our favourite cartoons are known as 2D animation. 2D animation is supposed to be technologically inferior to 3D animation which produces life-like animation. However, most cartoon companies still have not completely given up 2D animation and there have been revolutionary advancements in its technology too. On the whole, 2D animation is much cheaper than 3D animation and anyone who wants a less costly animation option approaches 2D cartoon companies.
