The Crazy Cab Ride Of Miss Lucille Bliss

Lucille Bliss is known for vocal contribution to the cartoon characters of Smurfette and of course the famous Crusader Rabbit which was indeed the first character to be made exclusively for the television. The professional journey of Lucille began like most of the other artists and that is as a radio artist. Miss Bliss almost missed a big role when she was selected for Hollywood Radio Show by Edgar Bergen but unfortunately the show was canceled by the sponsors. However this talented artist did not lose hope and headed towards the Disney office for an audition. She had got the news from her friend and producer Murray Bolen that the famous Disney is conducting auditions for the part of actresses for its upcoming ‘Cinderella’.

Lucille took a taxi from CBS which is in Hollywood and paid $75 for a $3 ride back then! Well that is not the end of the crazy ride on the contrary we are just about to begin. The chauffeur of the cab kept driving Lucille around and around in circles and when she commented that she saw the building right now the driver replied that in Hollywood people tend to repeat what they seem to like. Lucille finally made it to her destination and when she reached the office she could not see anyone around which was shocking as there was an audition scheduled! There was a man who informed her that the auditions are over but she could still get lucky if she knew how to adlib. Well of course she could and she did a great ad lib for that person and left with a positive note. And that’s how Lucille ended up with her role as one of the bad step-sister of Cinderella.
