The Difference between 2D and 3D Animation

Animations, specifically Cartoons have been enjoyed for a very long time now. When Walt Disney came out with Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, they managed to popularize 2D cartoons. Walt Disney has remained unmoved from being the top contending entertainment company of all times. Following its footsteps are Warner Bros and Hanna-Barbera. With the advent of more modern technology and the continuing development of the same, 2D has given way to 3D animations. The pioneer in 3D animations, Pixar, has recently been acquired by Disney making it the forefront in both 2D and 3D animation production.

With the rising popularity of 3D, 2D animation services are still offered by all major companies. The two types are very different from each other in terms of the effect that they generate. 2D is short for two dimensional animations that are drawn over and over again even slight changes in positions to indicate movement. Each frame is shown rapidly to produce the illusion that the picture is moving. 3D, on the other hand, is short for three dimensional in which each character has a model made in the computer with a skeleton which is the basis of their movement.

If you look around, there are many companies providing 3D animation services. In fact most of these production companies outsource their work to India. Some examples include, Crest Animations, makers of the Oscar recognized “Alpha and Omega”, Toonz Animation with their Tenali Rama series and Showboat Entertainment which is offers all the services to fulfil all the animation and graphic requirements of your company.
